How search engines evaluate comments

In December, Google search specialist John Mueller held a session with webmasters and answered many interesting questions.

For example, Mueller focused on blog comments.

So what does a search engine view comments as?
support?

Comments are part of the main page, as opposed to navigation and footer, and they’re considered supportive content.

Müller: “” When a bot looks at a page, it sees things like navigation, footer or sidebars as template supportive content, not critically important. But a blog post and changes to the content of that page in the form of comments is something that the bot will appreciate as part of the main content. The system will try to understand what those comments are, and sometimes there are few blog posts but lots of really good comments.
Comments may contain something important for a particular page, so you cannot ignore them.”

Analysts who also watched the session agree with Mueller, and experts have another question: How risky is it that some site owners or SEOs manipulate algorithms in order to improve their sites’ rankings. What does that mean? They order, for example, reviews from copywriters that contain keyword inputs, and the conclusion is that it is better to take care of quality and useful content that will meet users’ requests and expectations.
Then the comments will appear on their own.
