Yandex Direct: automatic segments for retargeting

Yandex Direct: automatic segments for retargeting

Getting users back is easier.
If earlier, to set up retargeting, you had to first set segments in Metric or Yandex. Audiences, now this is not necessary.

There was a simpler way – right in Direct to form automatic segments for targeting and set up retargeting with them (provided that the site has a Metrics counter).

In total, nine automatic segments are available for configuration:

New visitors to the last 90 days
Visitors who have visited the site in the past 90 days have visited it before
Search traffic
Link traffic
Advertising traffic
Failures – Users who opened one page of the site, spent less than 15 seconds on it and did not perform any targeted action
Unfailures – users who have visited the site for more than 15 seconds or who have looked at more than one page or completed a goal on the counter
Traffic from mobile devices
Traffic from desktop devices

Direct filters for automatic segments are suitable for different types of sites, and will help solve many problems.

To stimulate the interest of new visitors, those who have visited the site for the first time in the last three months, you can contact, for example, if you want to familiarize yourself with a brand or product.
Encourage completion of a purchase. The appropriate segments for that scenario are Returning Visitors or Failures.
Receive additional sales or remind you of regular purchases, as well as the segment of returns, but in combination with their own segments.
Bring back those who left quickly. If a user left a site with just one page open and viewed for less than 15 seconds, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re not interested in the offer at all, but they might want to come back if the price goes down or if the lineup expands.
Catch a mobile audience.
You can test different settings, you can target new and returning visitors, and you can compare results through experiments in Direct.
Adjust your search rates.
