App Annie has published the results of mobile data analytics for the second quarter of 2020.

Key findings.

The amount of time spent in mobile applications in the world increased by 40% (more than 200 billion hours spent in apps in April 2020);

In Russia, the amount of time spent by users in mobile applications increased by 15% (Russians spent 7.3 billion hours in mobile applications);

In the second quarter of 2020, 34.5 billion apps were downloaded, including 25.2 billion from Google Play and 9.3 billion from iOS.
The number of downloads on Google Play in the world increased by 10% to 25 billion downloads; on the iOS operating system downloads increased by 20% (almost 10 billion new downloads per quarter);
The share of non-gaming applications in Google Play accounted for 55% of all downloads, for iOS this figure was 70%;

1.7 billion applications were downloaded on the Russian market, while Google Play accounted for 1.6 billion. The number of downloads on iOS for the year increased by 45%. The number of downloads of non-gaming applications in Russia for the year decreased by 5%;

In the second quarter of 2020, users around the world spent 27 billion dollars on apps; users spent 17 billion dollars on iOS and grew by 15%; Google Play spent 10 billion dollars, which is 25% more than last year’s data.

Russian users spent $328 million on apps, up 30 percent from the first quarter of 2019, with $233 million spent on mobile games.

The top applications in Russia reflect the interests of users during the period of self-isolation: remote work, entertainment and instant messengers lead in the ranking both in the number of downloads and in the number of spent funds.

TikTok was the number one download in the second quarter, with My Talking Tom being the most popular game in terms of downloads, and Brawl Stars spending the most money and time.
