YouTube: Updates

YouTube has introduced a new RPM metric (revenue per thousand impressions), which will make it easier for video creators to understand how much they earn from each thousand views of their videos.

When calculating the indicator, YouTube will take into account profits from different sources: advertising, YouTube Premium subscriptions, income from superchats and super stickers, sponsorship.

Changes in revenue per thousand impressions indicate how effective a profit strategy is, making it easier to find the best solution for monetizing content.

The RPM metric is available on YouTube Analytics. According to a report by OneZero, advertising prices on YouTube have fallen by almost 50% since early February, while viewership has increased during the pandemic.

One in four media shoppers and brands suspended all advertising for the first half of 2020, and another 46 percent adjusted their spending downward.

Most channel owners see a decrease in CPM between 30% and 50%.
By introducing metrics, YouTube is trying to bring advertisers back to the platform by giving them more tools.
