Do you often look at your smartphone screen?
⠀
Many people call smartphones a destructive force, but phone addiction isn’t really about notifications.
⠀
Analysts found that 89% of interactions with the phone are initiated by users themselves, and only 11% are initiated by notifications, and many users check their smartphone mostly automatically.
Most of the time, people “stick”, flipping through the feeds on Instagram and Facebook.
In the experiment, 37 people aged 25 from the UK, Germany and France were equipped with cameras to objectively measure screen use.
It turned out that most interactions with a smartphone occur unnoticed by users, and participants took up the phone about every 5 minutes, regardless of the context.
⠀
The main reasons why people turned to the smartphone:
WhatsApp — 22%
Check the lock screen (for notifications) – 17%
Instagram — 16%
Facebook — 13%
Email – 6%
Calls – 1%
⠀
The most important trigger for study participants was email notifications.
